Distribution of Plants for Shoreline Restoration

Saturday 17 May 2025

In partnership with the MRC of Memphrémagog, the Municipality of Austin is proud to support shoreline restoration by offering free trees and shrubs to Austin residents. These carefully selected plants are native species specifically suited for shoreline planting.

Why Vegetate Shoreline Buffers?

By planting vegetation along your shoreline, you help to:

  • Reduce shoreline erosion by stabilizing the soil with plant roots.
  • Improve water quality by filtering pollutants and retaining sediments.
  • Promote biodiversity by providing habitat for local wildlife.
  • Enhance the natural beauty of your shoreline.
